Environmental Management Steering Group Member (volunteer role)

We are inviting engaged and passionate ISEP members to apply to join our Environmental Steering Group. This group plays a key role in shaping and advancing our policy and practice programme within this well‑established and growing area of work. Joining the group offers an excellent chance to contribute to strategic policy development, advocacy efforts, thought leadership, and the sharing of expertise across our wider membership.

This opportunity supports practitioners in developing their professional capabilities, deepening their sector insight, and working alongside colleagues from a diverse range of backgrounds.

Location: Virtual. Can be based in the UK or overseas. 
Salary: Unpaid volunteer opportunity 
Duration: Up to 3 years 
Hours: 5 hours per month (depending on involvement and the nature of current activities).

Meeting frequency: Monthly
Start Date: May / tbc  

Key responsibilities include:
• Support the delivery of a programme of policy and practice activity
• Attend regular virtual steering group meetings.
• Support updating on progress in delivering the work programme to the Policy and Practice Committee (PPC).
• May attend quarterly PPC virtual meetings
• Take part in ISEP consultation events where relevant to the member’s expertise
• Take on thematic or operational roles to deliver the knowledge

We welcome applications from ISEP professionals with broad environmental management knowledge and practice, across sectors and related disciplines. Applications from international members are also encouraged.

The group guides the delivery of our policy and practice programme in this rapidly evolving area. This is a valuable opportunity to contribute to strategic policy, advocacy, thought leadership, and knowledge sharing across our membership and beyond.

This role enables practitioners to strengthen their professional skills, broaden their sector understanding, and collaborate with members from a range of disciplines.

Location: Virtual. Can be based in the UK or overseas. 
Salary: Unpaid volunteer opportunity 
Duration: Up to 3 years 
Hours: 5 hours per month (depending on involvement and the nature of current activities).

Meeting frequency: Every 6 weeks
Start Date: May / tbc  

Key responsibilities include:
• Support the delivery of a programme of policy and practice activity
• Attend regular virtual steering group meetings.
• Support updating on progress in delivering the work programme to the Policy and Practice Committee (PPC).
• May attend quarterly PPC virtual meetings

We welcome applications from ISEP professionals with broad biodiversity and natural capital expertise, including those working in ecology, biodiversity, natural capital, environmental management, and related areas. Applications from members outside the UK are also encouraged.

ISEP Fellows Network Volunteer Opportunity

Committee Member

Opportunity:  ISEP Fellows Network Committee Member

Location: Virtual

Salary: Unpaid volunteer opportunity

Duration: Up to 18 months (with the option to reapply)

Hours: 2-4 hours per month


What is the Fellows Network?

The Fellows Network is for the highest level of ISEP membership.  The Network delivers on its Strategic Ambitions .

As representatives of ISEP, this network organises webinars, workshops, contributes to ISEP activities such as marketing campaigns, share insights and initiate new work areas within the network to foster valuable connections among industry experts.

What we’re looking for in a Fellows Network Volunteer:

We are seeking enthusiastic and committed volunteers to join ISEP’s Fellows Networks—representing our voice and membership worldwide. Ideal candidates are passionate about sustainability and the environment, well networked, eager to support organising impactful webinars and workshops and skilled at fostering connections among industry professionals. Volunteers should be proactive, collaborative, and ready to advocate for member initiatives on a global stage, contributing to meaningful change across the profession.

Examples of tasks:

  1. Attend quarterly virtual meetings with ISEP.
  2. Provide insights and articles.
  3. Initiate and deliver sub-groups or webinars to support Fellows’ development and insights.
  4. Keep up to date with ISEP key activity.
