After a quieter start to the year, the ISEP North West England Global Network is ramping up for a strong return. Plans are now in motion for an ambitious programme of 16 events across 2026, bringing fresh energy and opportunities to the regional community.

This year’s programme is designed to connect sustainability professionals, students, and partner organisations through a blend of webinars and in-person events. The focus spans key themes shaping the sector today—climate, energy, innovation, careers, skills development, and social value—ensuring both depth and variety across the calendar.

What’s Coming Up?

While all events are currently in development, momentum is building quickly. A number of sessions are expected to open for booking in the coming weeks, with full details and confirmed dates to follow shortly.

Planned Highlights

The upcoming programme reflects both topical issues and emerging areas of interest across the profession. Sessions in the pipeline include:

  2. ISO 14001: 2026 – What’s Changed?
  3. Artificial Intelligence and the Built Environment
  4. Reducing Single-Use Plastics in Crime Scene Investigation
  5. Science Based Targets Initiative: Context and Insights
  6. Food Waste at 35,000 Feet
  7. Social Value
  8. Learnings from Simpler Recycling
  9. A collaborative session with the Freshwater Biological Association

In addition to webinars, there will be opportunities to connect in person, including:

  2. Summer and Winter socials in Manchester

The network is also continuing its commitment to early-career engagement, with dedicated careers events planned at:

Claire Brown MISEP

Co-Chair

Claire Brown is a Senior Sustainability Consultant at Turner & Townsend and a PhD Researcher at the Tyndall Centre for Climate change at the University of Manchester. Her PhD research work focuses on addressing issues around heating and cooling demand in social housing in the UK. She has over 18 years of experience in industry, third, public and private sectors. She is looking at how new-build social housing could be a potential way to reduce demand on the power grid through better design and exploring further opportunities for self-generation. Exploring how commercially viable solutions might exist to allow social housing to be built with high energy performance built-in. She has previously worked in the construction industry as a Sustainability Manager, in the public sector as an Energy manager and as a Senior Consultant. She also has an interest in management systems and how these can play a part in improving environmental performance across businesses, particularly around the integration of ISO14001.
