Switching Up Heating: Low-Carbon Solutions That Work

Catch up on the ISEP New Zealand online session exploring innovative lower-carbon heating solutions. This engaging and interactive webinar brought together sustainability professionals, engineers, and building specialists to explore emerging approaches to reducing carbon emissions from heating systems in homes, businesses, and other buildings. The session focused on a range of lower-carbon technologies, including ground source heat pumps, wood pellet systems, and natural low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants. Speakers compared these solutions with conventional heating methods, such as standard heat pumps, and discussed how they are being applied in real-world settings. The webinar featured two expert presentations: Marcus Baker (Apricus Eco) shared an introduction to wood pellet space heating systems and CO₂/propane hot water systems, including case studies, real-world applications, and key sustainability considerations. Tom Land (Geo Exchange) focused on ground source heat pumps, presenting practical case studies and discussing their application in low-carbon building design, along with associated sustainability factors. Watch the recording to explore how these lower-carbon heating solutions are shaping the future of sustainable buildings.
