I have been a member of ISEP for around 20 years. The support from the peers is tremendous, the ideas and knowledge that members are prepared to share is wonderful. Working in Environmental management and Sustainability can sometime feel that you are fighting a loosing battle in relation to the amount of work that needs to be done. But I find attending training events and networking is inspirational and I come away with a sense of it all being possible. The knowledge shared via the teams of volunteers who work along side ISEP staff mean that this is an organisation that can make a different, not just to developing your career but positively impacting on the direction of travel in relation to sustainable development.

ISEP was instrumental in my sustainability career journey right from the day I completed my Masters of Architecture (Sustainability). I started off as an Affiliate member to work out the path and in 10 years, I became a Fellow. ISEP's resources and networking events are useful for us to share our experience and knowledge at the same time learn from others to implement in our roles/projects. I find ISEP's Transform magazine and other specialists groups helps us to keep up-to-date with the changes that are happening in the UK and elsewhere. I joined our Institution when it was the Institute of Environmental Management (ISEP) in the early 1990s, and transferred into ISEP in 1999 when it was formed. In 2005, I was appointed the 44th Fellow. My membership has always been an important part of my professional career, and I am proud to have FISEP on my business card, website, and under my signature. The head office staff - particularly all three Chief Executives (prior CEs Russell Foster, and Tim Balcon; and the present one, Sarah Makherjee) - have been particularly helpful to me by supporting my books with professional endorsements. In return, I am proud to offer ISEP CPD opportunities through associated "Microlearning" content and assessments within the later editions. I expect to remain a member of ISEP for all of my life.
