Our professionally graded memberships are designed just for you. ISEP has five different professional membership levels (two at entry level), each one suitable for a different stage in your career.
Take a look at the descriptions below and then refer to the relevant membership standard to see if you meet the criteria.
Graduate and Associate are the levels for those new to the profession. Graduate is the academic route, where you must have a relevant degree, and Associate is vocational, for those who have entered the profession through different means of training and development.
Practitioner membership is for the doers. For those of you who have experience and can demonstrate your skills and knowledge at an operational level. Practitioners can combine their ISEP membership application with an application for Registered Environmental Practitioner (REnvP). REnvP is a designation run by Society for the Environment (SocEnv) that precedes Chartered Environmentalist.
Full membership is for professionals that play a key role within organisations. They are often decision-makers and influencers that are thinking strategically and have a strong record of achievement. When you apply for Full membership of ISEP, you can combine that application with the one required for Chartered Environmentalist, meaning you only must submit one application to gain recognition for both.
Fellow membership is for leaders of major national and international organisation with a sustained record of achievement. These are the people who are paving the way for transforming the world to sustainability.
Membership progression might not always be linear. You don’t have to move up through the grades in this way. For example, if you have just graduated with a Master’s degree in a relevant subject and currently hold Graduate membership, if you meet the criteria for Full membership then you can apply to upgrade to that level directly. There is no need to become a Practitioner member first.
