Manchester upcycling facility brings ISEP members together

Suez’s Renew Hub in Manchester hosted ISEP’s corporate partnerships team's first in-person regional networking event since the COVID-19 pandemic, in September 2023. ISEP's Digital Journalist Tom Pashby reports.

ISEP members from across the region came together to discuss everything from circular economics to net zero and biodiversity.

Lynne Malpass PISEP, head of environment and industrial risk at SUEZ UK:

The Renew Hub takes up half of a warehouse in an existing Suez facility, where the other half is used for standard household materials recycling.

Rebecca McLean MISEP, head of sustainability, energy water and environment at Sweco UK:

If you have been to a municipal waste site – a ‘tip’ – you may have spotted a shipping container or portacabin where items too good to throw away are kept for direct resale to consumers.

Ian Stenton PISEP, National Sustainability Programme Manager at NHS England:

What Suez have done in Manchester is create a centralised upcycling facility in Trafford Park where those unwanted goods are taken to, repaired by experts, and sold back to the community or donated to charity.

ISEP hopes to continue bringing members together at events like this one in future. Keep an eye on your emails to check out events near you.
