Mandatory Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) in England is a provision in the Environment Act (2021) and came into force in England earlier this year. BNG requires new major developments to deliver at least a 10% increase in biodiversity and is enforced through the planning system.

This uniquely informative document, applicable for major developments, takes the user through the context of the requirements and goes on to describe the various key aspects of BNG, and the net gain process.
