- A name that clearly reflects who we are and what we do
One of the strongest messages we heard throughout our two-year consultation was that the name IEMA no longer reflected the full scope of our work or the evolving roles of our members. As sustainability becomes embedded across industries, it was time for a name that made our purpose crystal clear.
The Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (ISEP) says exactly who we are. No jargon, no assumptions – just clarity. This not only makes it easier for the outside world to understand what we do, but strengthens your professional identity too.
Our expanded narrative elevates the external understanding of the profession. It demonstrates that our members play a huge role in environmental management, but also social and economic sustainability. It gives recognition to some of the work currently underway by members and also opens global opportunities.
- Stronger professional recognition
With our new name and renewed purpose, we’re not just keeping pace with change, we’re defining what good looks like across the profession.
Whether you’re influencing policy, driving best practice in business, or delivering change in your own community, the ISEP name and post-nominals (like AISEP, PISEP, MISEP and FISEP) offer clear, consistent recognition of your expertise and contribution. This gives you credibility that’s instantly recognisable across sectors, countries and audiences.
- A united voice for a growing profession
ISEP brings together more than 20,000 professionals across 125 countries. People working in every sector, at every level, and on every kind of sustainability and environmental challenge.
Our rebrand gives this community a stronger, more visible identity. Together, we are the professional voice on sustainability and the environment, and the clarity of our new brand helps amplify that voice where it matters most: in government, in business, and across society.
