Ballynature Day continues to stand out as one of Northern Ireland’s most significant annual celebrations of nature, bringing together communities, organisations and environmental professionals in a shared commitment to protecting the region’s natural heritage.

Held on 28 February 2026, this year’s event built on its strong reputation, featuring more than 30 exhibitors and interactive stands. Attendees were able to explore a wide range of activities, from hands-on workshops and live demonstrations to storytelling sessions designed to engage all ages. The event created an accessible and dynamic space for learning, discussion and inspiration around sustainability and conservation.

A number of leading organisations were in attendance, including Ulster Wildlife, Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs, and Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. Their presence highlighted the strength of collaboration across sectors in Northern Ireland, as well as the growing importance of coordinated action on environmental challenges.

ISEP was also represented at the event by Carol Martin, Chair of ISEP Northern Ireland. Supported by Lizzie Gillespie (pictured above) and other volunteers from the steering group, the team engaged with attendees to promote ISEP’s mission. Conversations focused on the value of professional collaboration, knowledge sharing, and supporting local initiatives that drive sustainable change across the region.

Beyond the individual exhibits, Ballynature Day 2026 reinforced its wider role as a platform for fostering environmental awareness and encouraging proactive stewardship. By connecting people with organisations, ideas and practical actions, the event continues to play an important part in shaping a more sustainable future for Northern Ireland.

As momentum around climate and biodiversity action continues to grow, events like Ballynature Day demonstrate the power of community engagement—turning awareness into action and strengthening the networks needed to deliver meaningful change.
