ISEP expands its Board with three influential sustainability experts

27 January 2026

The Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (ISEP) has announced the appointment of three new Non-Executive Directors to its Board: Tim Wood, Warren Percival FISEP CEnv, and David Symons FISEP CEnv.

Together, they bring deep expertise spanning technology, sustainability leadership, policy, and global environmental practice, strengthening ISEP’s ability to support and champion its growing professional community.

Tim Wood joins the Board, bringing strategic technology and transformation expertise to support the institute’s mission of advancing sustainability and environmental practice.

As Chief Technology Officer at The Arch Company, Tim has led rapid, organisation-wide change and has more than two decades of experience across technology and business leadership. Passionate about accelerating sustainability through accessible digital solutions, Tim believes that empowering environmental professionals with the right tools is critical to tackling climate change at the necessary pace and scale.

His appointment supports ISEP’s ambition to harness innovation, data, and emerging technologies to enhance impact and collaboration across the profession.

Tim said: "I’m joining ISEP's board because I see an opportunity to amplify the impact of sustainability professionals. Climate change demands urgent action, and we can accelerate progress by giving environmental professionals better access to powerful digital tools.

“My experience spans rapidly transforming organisations, democratizing data access, and deploying AI at scale. Technology can help enhance impact measurement, strengthen collaboration, and enable faster, data-driven decisions. By combining proven methodologies with an innovative mindset, we can equip ISEP's community with practical tools they can use to create a sustainable future."

Warren Percival, Director and Head of Business Development at RSK Group, brings nearly 25 years of experience in the environmental sector. A Chartered Environmentalist and Fellow of ISEP, recognised in the ENDS Powerlist, Warren leads strategic sustainability-focused business development across global markets.

He has also held significant governance and policy roles, including eight years as a Trustee of the UK Environmental Law Association (UKELA), serving as its immediate past Chair, and as an Officer of the International Bar Association’s (IBA) EHS Committee.

As a Non-Executive Director, Warren will focus on sustainability leadership and is set to help chair ISEP’s Policy and Practice Committee.

Commenting on his appointment, Warren said: “Being appointed to the board for the next three years was strongly aligned with my passion for continuing to drive standards whilst helping to strengthen ISEP’s operational strategy as part of its continued growth, following its successful rebrand. I have been involved with ISEP for many years; it is one of our industry’s most important professional bodies focused on environmental and sustainability disciplines for which I’ve been a strong advocate, collaborating with ISEP as a leading voice in sustainability.”

The Policy and Practice Committee that Warren will chair serves as a crucial link between the ISEP board and the steering groups engaged in policy and practice activities, to whom it provides strategic oversight.

Warren added: “This important group ensures relevancy for other steering groups within ISEP and advises the wider board on developments and progress, including areas of policy for both members and government. I will be picking up the baton from Professor Simon Pollard, who has chaired this committee for the past few years. I am grateful for his contribution, and looking forward to working with the team to continue this important work.”

David Symons adds extensive experience from a 35-year career in environmental and sustainability leadership. He leads WSP’s global Future Ready® programme and is widely recognised, having featured on the ENDS Powerlist and received multiple industry awards, including Sustainability Leader of the Year and Environmental Professional of the Year.

An ISEP Fellow and Chartered Environmentalist, David has also served as a Non-Executive Director at the Aldersgate Group and founded The Pledge To Net Zero, driving climate action within the environmental sector itself.

Commenting on his appointment, David said: “I’m excited to be asked to be part of ISEP’s board. ISEP has been my professional institution since 1992. It’s been fantastic to see the sector and our institution grow over that time.

I’m excited to be part of a board committed to taking ISEP to the next level.”

The appointments reflect ISEP’s continued commitment to strong governance, innovation, and leadership as it supports environmental and sustainability professionals in addressing global challenges.

Shamir Ghumra, Chair of ISEP’s Board, said:I am incredibly pleased that we have been able to bring three such high calibre individuals to the ISEP board. Their appointments will strengthen the board team as we build on our strategy and digital systems for the years ahead. The diversity of thought we now have at the Board is enviable, and we will be able to better serve ISEP and our members as a result."
