Gayle Barclay, East Scotland Chair

"Volunteering with ISEP has been a great experience. I’ve organised events, met lots of amazing people, and enjoyed talks on a wide range of topics. It’s a great way to stay connected, learn something new, and be part of a supportive community who care about the environment.”

Jon Nichols, Biodiversity and Natural Capital Network Steering Group member

"Volunteering on the ISEP BANC steering group has catapulted my learning and given me the opportunity to build relationships with leading biodiversity and natural capital experts in the industry. I’ve been able to contribute to and lead thought leadership, policy engagement, and industry upskilling initiatives which have had a positive impact on best practice and informed government policy. These activities have raised my profile and the standing of my organisation on this topic. By far the best part about volunteering on the SG has been the connections I’ve made with fellow practitioners: it’s been great fun working with such a lovely group of dedicated and brilliant people working to transform the world to sustainability.”

Laura Matz, DSI Support Volunteer

"I sought out a role volunteering with DSI because I really wanted to see a change in my industry but felt that working at a very small consultancy meant I had to look outside my own workplace to contribute to that change. The role has helped me to get a deeper understanding of the challenges people face within the industry and how that has contributed to the lack of diversity in our profession. At the same time, it has given me the chance to be an active ally and use my network in a positive way."

Georgina Phillips, Climate Change Adaptation Network Steering Group Member

“Supporting the Climate Change Adaptation Steering Group has been a fantastic opportunity to work alongside likeminded individuals from a wide range of sectors and backgrounds. The Group has provided links to some fantastic people for bouncing ideas around, gaining fresh perspectives on key issues, and collaborating to help move things forward. It’s a great example of how diverse thinking and shared purpose can really help get things across the line and so encouraging to see how collective expertise and shared commitment can drive meaningful progress in preparing for and responding to climate-related challenges.”
